Story
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, attempts to take over the criminal underworld of Gotham. Aside from the Bat-signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in The Penguin. Colin Farrell struggled to get his version of the Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed.

For his series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user, with a preference for cigars. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo.

I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood how you could take a skinny, handsome, healthy actor and put huge prosthetics and a thick suit on him… especially when you think he looks like other famous actors who would be just as good. I also didn’t understand why this spin-off was happening, and honestly, I’m just tired of Batman reboots.
But I didn’t expect to like it this much
But after the first episode, I’ll say that this series is great (so far). I only just watched it now, as it was a mandatory transition between the first and second movies and my surprise appreciation for Farrell in the role in the first. The acting is fantastic, the script is superb, and it surprised me with some quick twists.
I hope it stays that way, because I can’t wait for the next episode
The biggest thing I liked was that there was a lot more color than Batman. I noticed this almost immediately, because for me, that was a big complaint about the movie (I felt like I was watching it through Zack Snyder’s lens).
