One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic from the 90s, but the watch wasn’t released until 2016.. I was really excited to see this film directed by Gilles Lellouch, starring Adele Exarchopoulos and Francois Civil, who I really appreciated. It has all the ingredients to make a French Bockbuster, but they lacked that.
After a while we wonder if we got into the wrong theater
The first part is too long to set the scene for their young lives and love. We also start to feel the frustration of not seeing Adél and Francois after an hour. If this was meant to be the 1st loooong part, then the film should have been released in 2 editions.
Because I think, although it is too long, it was good
The second part of their adult life is in many ways not authentic and not exciting enough. I found the adaptation of the script to be quite weak. Moreover, I did not feel any connection with this love story of reunion.
As for the ending, it was too easy
It is a shame because I feel like we missed the opportunity to watch a great film here. It was good for Mallory Wanecque as Jackie and Malik Frikah as Clotaire, who give great performances.
