Story
The Duttons faced a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of Westward Expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. While the Great Depression in the United States began in 1929, it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the nation. Between the drought and the reduced demand for agricultural products due to the end of the “Great War” (also known as World War I, from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers would default on war loans, which led to widespread bank failures throughout the state.
I absolutely love 1923!
Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 homesteaders had left. In addition, 200 banks in Montana failed. Not only were crops affected by the drought, but there was also a locust infestation and livestock succumbing to the contagion. Featured in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023).
It’s not for kids
It’s right up there with Yellowstone and 1883. If you’re a fan of those two, then you’ll be a fan of this one too. It takes the best of both shows and combines them into this one. This is definitely an adult show with all the violence and language that makes it so good. In this regard, Taylor Sheridan can do no wrong.
It’s all top-notch
He hits home run after home run. I love everything about this show… the acting, the writing, the directing, the production, the cinematography, etc., etc. I mean, this stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, for crying out loud. For these two A-list actors to do a TV show, you know it had to be good. I know these two are going to get all the attention, and rightfully so, but there are so many other great actors in this.
Too many to even name
I can’t wait to see more of this series and where it goes.
